Welcome to The IEP Files – Exposing the Truth About Special Education

If you’ve ever felt like you’re shouting into the void trying to get your child the services they deserve, you’re not alone—and you’re in the right place.

Welcome to The IEP Files, where we expose the truths, the barriers, and the battles that families face navigating special education.

This space was born out of lived experience—hours in IEP meetings, stacks of paperwork, emotional breakdowns, formal complaints, and the relentless pursuit of what the law already promises our children: a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).

Why This Matters

The system isn’t just flawed—it’s failing families, particularly those of color, low-income households, and parents raising children with disabilities who don’t “present” the way schools expect. We’re often gaslit, ignored, and expected to stay quiet.

The IEP Files is here to change that.

What You'll Find Here

  • Real stories from parents and caregivers fighting for services

  • Guides & templates to help you file grievances, track progress, or advocate more effectively

  • Breakdowns of laws like IDEA, FAPE, FERPA, and what they mean for your child

  • Self-care tips for caregivers navigating burnout

  • Resources to connect you with the right help at the right time

You’re Not Crazy. You’re Just Being Ignored.

One of the hardest parts of this journey is the emotional toll—questioning yourself, being made to feel “difficult,” or being told to just wait. Here, we validate your voice and give you tools to push back strategically.

Because guess what?
They’re counting on you giving up.

Our Mission

To empower, educate, and equip families—especially single parents, Black mothers, and caregivers of children with autism and other disabilities—to advocate effectively, unapologetically, and with receipts.

Let’s Get Into It.

Welcome to The IEP Files.
We're not here to be polite—we're here to be powerful.
Grab your binder, bring the data, and let’s make some noise.
